Interim Multi-Skilled Engineer (FMCG Manufacturing)

Salary: Circa £40ph to £50ph
Location: On-site: Greater Manchester Area

Shift: Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00

IMPACT EVOLVE is supporting a fast-growing FMCG brand in their search to appoint an Interim Multi-Skilled Engineer who will take ownership of all aspects of site engineering and maintenance.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of the operation, ensuring lines run smoothly, downtime is minimised, and opportunities for improvement are acted on quickly..

Key Responsibilities

Planned & Reactive Maintenance

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults quickly and effectively.
  
  

• Carry out engineering tasks including stripping motors, bearings, shafts, conveyors, adjusting belt tensions, and maintaining labelling and foil feed machines.
  
  

• Diagnose inverter issues, access PLCs, and fault find within electrical cabinets.
  
  

• Install electrical points such as 240v plug sockets and FLT charging points.
  
  
  

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct line studies to identify “quick wins” and address immediate issues in production efficiency.
  
  

• Proactively seek improvements rather than simply firefighting breakdowns.
  
  

• Provide day-to-day maintenance support across all areas of the site, including general facility repairs (e.g., light fittings, door handles).
  
  

Collaboration & Reporting

• Report directly to the Head of Operations, ensuring engineering activity aligns with production and operational priorities.
  
  

• Work closely with production teams to maintain uptime, improve performance, and minimise disruption.
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment (food production desirable).
  
  

• Multi-skilled with both mechanical and electrical capabilities.
  
  

• Confident working on a wide range of engineering tasks, from precision repairs to facility maintenance.
  
  

• Strong problem solving and fault finding ability, with a proactive mindset for improvement.
  
  

• Comfortable in a hands-on, high energy, and entrepreneurial environment.
